Theft still a cause for concern
A number of housebreakings were reported in Ramsgate.
WITH six housebreakings in Ramsgate last week, this type of crime remains a concern for the Ramsgate Community Policing Forum.
According to the forum’s latest report, the housebreakings occurred in Fascadale Road, Marine Drive and View Road. Items stolen include a wallet, a cellphone, keys, a laptop, food, a home theatre system, a DSTV remote, sunglasses, clothing, a suitcase and linen.
During the week there were two arrests made for causing a disturbance and five for being drunk in public. A number of people were arrested for loitering. Ramsgate residents are asked to report any suspicious individuals, loiterers or unusual activities to the 24 hour police support number, 073 4868683 or the forum office at 039 3149400 from 8am to 4pm.
Residents are also asked to contribute to the costs of purchasing closed circuit cameras for the area.
