Woman threatened with broken bottle
The robbers fled, taking her handbag containing cash and her cellphone.
MARGATE police are appealing for information in connection with a robbery in Wartski Drive, Margate last Saturday.
A 32-year-old woman from Margate Extension Three was walking home from work when she was approached by two men.
“The men threatened her with a broken bottle near the Wartski Drive bridge,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka. “One of the men grabbed her and the other held the broken bottle to her neck. They demanded that she hand over all her belongings,” said Capt Mfeka.
The robbers fled, taking her handbag containing her cash and cellphone. No arrests have yet been made.
“Street criminals are selective about their victims. Some of them concentrate on people who are easy to overcome. They’ll target younger women and older people and are also looking for those who show weakness or fear,” said Capt Mfeka.
