Woman attacked during load shedding
Despite a large search party, the woman's attacker was not found.
A WOMAN (56) was stabbed in her Queen Elizabeth Road, Manaba home at 6.15pm last night as she was cleaning a braai stand while the power was out.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the woman was attacked by a man who ‘forced an object against her neck’ before stabbing her in the shoulder.
“He ran away without taking anything, and she was taken to hospital for treatment,” she said. Margate police are investigating a case of assault.
Willie Jenner of Manaba Neighbourhood Crime Watch CPF, who was the first on the scene, said the incident happened during load shedding.
“The woman’s attacker held a pipe to her throat in an apparent attempt to strangle her and then stabbed her twice in the head and in the shoulder. She is still in hospital.”
He added that while helping the woman, he called CPF members and local security companies who immediately responded. “It was incredible… some 25 cars arrived to assist,” he said.
He said the woman’s attacker could not be traced despite the large search party.
