Stepfather arrested for raping child (6)
In a separate case, a 40-year-old man has been charged with the rape of an eight-year-old girl.
A STEPFATHER (47) was arrested for the rape of a six-year-old girl from Ezinkawini Ward, Amandawe last Friday.
It is alleged that the child was raped between March 25 and April 2 this year.
The man appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 20 where the case was postponed to July 27 for a formal bail application.
Police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum, said that the case is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Aiyesha Mariano of the Umzinto Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS).
In a separate case, a 40-year-old man appeared in the same court today, July 21, charged with the rape of an eight-year-old girl, also from Ezinkawini Ward in Amandawe.
The case was postponed to Wednesday, July 29, for a formal bail application hearing.
Capt Pandarum said that the man, who is a relative living in the same homestead as the victim, abused her between May 1 and May 31 this year.
The case is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Alex Ngcobo, also of the Umzinto FCS.
“As both victims are minors, the cases are being heard in camera instead of in open court,” added Capt Pandarum.
