Terrifying moment for two young swimmers

The two school pupils were taken to hospital.

TWO school pupils nearly drowned at the Shelly Beach Ski boat bay earlier this afternoon.

It is believed that the children, a boy and a girl, got swept out to sea about an hour ago.

According to a witness, one of the men who assists with launches went to their assistance and also got into difficulty. He managed to swim back to shore.

“An NSRI member entered the water, swam out and rescued the boy. Another  brave good Samaritan swam out and  managed to bring the girl ashore,” said the witness.

Both children were treated on the beach and taken to hospital for further care. It is believed that the pupils are from a high school in Izingolweni.
