Video: Open day highlights NSRI’s role

NSRI Shelly Beach station is looking for new volunteers to sign up.

THOSE interested in finding out more about sea rescue attended the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), Shelly Beach station’s open day last Saturday.

The general atmosphere was great and crew members showed newcomers around the station, which is looking for new volunteers to sign up. It takes a special kind of person to give up their time and to risk their life, so if you have what it takes, and are aged between 18 and 50, come join the dynamic team.

NSRI is the charity that saves lives in South African waters. It is run by more than 1 000 highly skilled, unpaid volunteers who are on standby day and night throughout the year. What is even more incredible is that NSRI is a humanitarian service, with no charge to the public.
