Shots fired near primary school
Pupils and teachers were not harmed.
A PRIMARY school in Oslo Beach was apparently used as an escape route by men armed with a firearm and a panga earlier today.
Police rushed to the scene after gunshots were heard. However, no children or teachers at the school were affected in any way.
“A woman was driving on the main Harding Road when she saw a speeding white sedan fitted with a blue light,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“It is believed that the two occupants of the car were chasing three armed men, who were on foot. They jumped over a fence and into the school yard and shots were heard.”
Port Shepstone Crime Prevention Unit officers and SAPS K9 officers responded immediately, but there was no sign of the vehicle or the three men.
Investigations are continuing. Anyone with information can contact the Port Shepstone police at 10111.
