Speeding motorists nabbed on N2
One of the motorists was clocked at 199km/h and the other at 201km/h.
TWO motorists were caught speeding on the N2 near Ifafa last Saturday morning.
Prabashen Moodley (29), travelling from Durban towards Port Shepstone, was clocked doing 199 km/h in his sedan by Road Traffic Inspectorates officers. He was arrested and released on R1 000 bail.
He appeared in the Hibberdene Court today where he was found guilty and handed a R20 000 fine or six months’ imprisonment.
His licence was also suspended for six months.
On the same day, a 22-year-old man was caught driving at 201 km/h on a motorcycle in the same area.
He was also released on R1 000 bail. The case was postponed for legal representation.
“We want to warn motorists who drive recklessly and pose a threat to other road users that we will not tolerate this behaviour,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
She called on the community to report such drivers to the police, providing a description and registration number of the vehicle involved.
