Tourism ready for safe season
Kay Robertson has been appointed the new general manager of marketing and events,
UGU South Coast Tourism is gearing up for the busiest holiday season of the South Coast’s year.
Chief executive Justin Mackrory said tourism had beefed up its ongoing ‘Sunny and Safe Campaign’ by printing 10 000 colourful book markers offering handy safety tips for visitors. These were available at Visitor Information Centres.
Tourism has also briefed the Blue Flag beach stewards on how to inform visitors about safety issues.
Tourism staff had also chatted about good community practices on community radio stations.
Mr Mackrory announced that Kay Robertson had been appointed the new general manager of marketing and events. She would join the tourism team on January 1.
“Kay comes to us with more than 15 years of high level multi-media experience, having previously worked at SA Tourism and the Gauteng Tourism Authority.We look forward to receiving her professional input in relation to this important position,” he said.
He thanked Nikki Tilley from the Media Mogul for her contribution towards tourism’s marketing and communications objectives as a part-time contracted service provider. He also thanked members of the association, the area committees, sponsors and funders for their invaluable contribution towards tourism in this area.
