Support St Mike’s clean-up

Come along and help spruce up this popular beachfront this Saturday.

STEPHEN Herbst, the man behind the crusade to clean up beaches,  is certainly making a difference.

Mr Herbst rallied businesses to clean up Margate beachfront two weeks ago, and then last weekend Uvongo beach got ‘the treatment’.

Now, this Saturday it is St Mike’s turn, and everyone who is willing to assist in the clean-up is asked to meet at the beach at 9am.

Mr Herbst encouraged everyone to unite and get involved. Bring gloves, hats and tools – cold drinks and black bags will be provided. For the more active citizens – don’t forget the five kilometre Uvongo parkrun which starts at St Mike’s every Saturday morning at 8am.

Councillor Paul Brauteseth thanked Mr Herbst for his drive and enthusiasm. “We need more guys like you on the coast – your actions spur on the community to reach out and claim back our reasons for living here. I am a proud councillor knowing that you live in my beautiful ward,” he wrote on Facebook.
