New generation Corolla: For those who love to drive

Toyota fans were reminded that the best selling car nameplate of all time, Toyota has earned a place in history.

IT’S time to head on down to Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach.

The reason? The new generation Corolla is on sale. Toyota fans can get a close up look and feel of these popular vehicles.

Sales executives, as always, will be on hand to answer any questions, like they were at a recent open day.

Motoring website Autodealer had this to say about the Corolla: “New styling has given the car a sleeker look. Some enhancements under the skin have improved the driving dynamics as well.”

Three models are available, namely the Esteem, Prestige and Exclusive, in various engine sizes.

“There will be huge specials on all new generation Corollas while stocks last,” said Chris Jones of Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach.

The six-speed vehicle has maximum power of 73kW at 6000rpm and reaches maximum torque of 128Nm at 3800rpm.

It probably won’t win any sprint races, but that’s not what it made for.

Zero to 100km/h is 12.6 seconds and it has a potential top speed of 180km/h.

Combined cycle fuel consumption is 6-l/100km. CO2 emissions are 139 g/km.

Service intervals 15 000km, with a service plan of five years or 90 000km, and a warranty of three years or 100 000km.
