South Coast storm: Spar parking lot takes a ‘Dip’
The South Coast certainly has not had a shortage of water falling from the sky at the moment.
If there are any holiday-makers from Johannesburg on the South Coast at the moment they could be forgiven for thinking, just for a moment, that they were back home.
That’s because of the sudden, but loud and slightly frightening thunderstorm that hit certain parts of the coast earlier this evening.
In some places as much as 85mm of rain fell in just over an hour.
But like upcountry, it was also over pretty quickly.

The Dip Spar in Port Shepstone saw its parking lot ‘drenched’, but not too badly in the sense of it being overly damaging, by the looks of things.
The photograph probably makes the water level in the parking lot look a little deeper than it really was, with it reaching the tops of the wheels of some of the cars, but not enough to prevent their owners from driving off.
‘Heavy’ weather seems to be an increasing norm on the coast, and motorists are advised to take care in the event of more rain.
