Decomposing body found in Scottburgh

According to a witness, the deceased was a homeless person who often slept in the bushes.

A man’s decomposed body was found near the railway tracks opposite the Alexandra Park home for the aged in Bermuda Way, Scottburgh last Friday.

“An Amandawe man was apparently looking for golf balls in the bushes alongside the railway tracks in Scottburgh South, when he found the body, which was in the early stages of decomposition,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

According to a witness, the deceased was a homeless person who often slept in the bushes. The man appears to have been in his mid-forties, was of slender build, dressed in a beige long sleeve jersey and a pair of navy blue pants.

An appeal is made to anyone who may have known the deceased, to contact Constable Frank Mduduzi Mnguni of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service at 039-9781900, in order for the body to be identified and his next of kin informed.
