Police clean up Sheppie CBD

Seven undocumented persons were arrested and charged.

Vehicles, liquor outlets, and business premises were searched during a special crime awareness operation last Friday.

The special crime awareness operation commenced with the Cluster Commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele in command and started with a parade of officers from various units in SAPS and Ray Nkonyeni Law Enforcement offices. Other entities such as the Department of Home Affairs and the Liquor Board also formed part of the operation.

“Seven undocumented persons were arrested and charged,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Fourteen knives were confiscated. A small quantity of dagga and 14 heroin capsules were confiscated. The areas targeted were the Port Shepstone taxi rank and liquor outlets in the CBD, Murchison, Mkholombe and Marburg.
