A man who was found in possession of 626 grams of dagga has been granted bail after his first appearance in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court recently.
Gladwell Nono Nyawose (40) appeared in court on a charge of unlawful possession of drugs. He was arrested at a Shayamoya homestead in Amandawe last Thursday evening with the dagga, which he had hidden in the roof.

Members of the Umzinto K9 Unit and the Scottburgh SAPS Detectives Task Team carried out the intelligence-driven raid on the homestead.
The total street value of the dagga was estimated at R1252. He opted for Legal Aid and, after the court took into consideration his circumstances of being unemployed and needing to look after his children, he was granted bail of R1 000 and is to make his next appearance on March 12.
