ANC elections co-ordinator murdered in bed next to wife

THE KwaZulu-Natal African National Congress is outraged at the murder of a party member who was shot and killed at his home during the early hours of last Saturday.

The recently-elected elections co-ordinator, Nqobizwe Mkhize (46), had apparently been asleep next to his wife at his Mfume home just inland from Umgababa, when three gunmen stormed the house, kicking down the door.

They ordered Mrs Mkhize to cover herself and opened fire, killing Mr Mkhize. The men opened fire at bystanders as they fled, killing two people

Provincial SAPS spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala, confirmed the murders.

The motive for the killing remains unknown at this stage.
