Heroin found at Margate taxi rank

Some 36 heroin capsules with a street value of R1 440 were confiscated.

Two men were arrested for possession of heroin at the Margate taxi rank on Monday this week.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said at about midday Constable Mzakwe Makana and Cst Siyabulela Qhosha from Port Shepstone Public Order Police (POP) project team arrested the men, aged 27 and 33 years respectively.

“Some 36 heroin capsules with a street value of R1 440 were found in their possession. The two will appear in Ramsgate court soon,” said Lt-Col Wiid.

Station commander of Margate, Brigadier William Slabbert, has welcomed the arrests and urges the community to come forward with information to expose drug activities in the Margate area.
