Islamic Relief SA sinks R500 000 into boreholes for Ugu District

The official handover of boreholes in Hibberdene and Port Shepstone took place at Cabhane Combined School last week.

Islamic Relief South Africa has donated half a million rand for the installation of boreholes at South Coast schools and churches.

The official handover of boreholes in Hibberdene and Port Shepstone  took place at Cabhane Combined School last week. Iqbal Khan, who directed the programme, said the funds had been raised from local businesses.

“The private and public sector partnership is important to provide services where they are needed the most. We thank all the sponsors for their kindness,” he said.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality mayor Cynthia Mqwebu, thanked the sponsors. “I urge the community to take care of this infrastructure. It is yours, so use it very well,” she said.

“We are the happiest community and we will take care of these boreholes as they will benefit the community and pupils,” said Cabhane school principal, Simphiwe Chiliza.
