An unlicensed tavern, known as Duma’s , was closed by Port Shepstone police last Thursday.
The 38-year-old owner produced a fraudulent document which he presented to police, saying it was his licence. He was served a summons to appear in court for selling liquor without a valid licence, but instead opted to pay an admission of guilt fine of R3 000.

“Investigations into the premises began when two people were stabbed on April 14 after an argument in the vicinity of the tavern. Both died and murder cases were opened,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
A 20-year-old man was later arrested for the stabbings and has appeared in court.
