There is a lot of choice out there when you‘re looking for the best pieces of equipment and so it is important to choose what is best for the types of films that you want to make.
It is also important to note that there is a lot more to filmmaking than just a camera and a microphone. There are plenty of other creative tools that can help turn your film into something that will get you noticed. We’ve put together a list of some tools that we think would make your film great.
Video production software
Although your dream may be to become a director, or a scriptwriter, when you’re starting out, you often need to do lots of the roles. Aspiring filmmakers tend to start off with low budgets and so the editing can be a bit of an issue. There are lots of different types of software that you can buy to bring your work together and websites that have similar features. If you’ve got to the editing part of your film and you’re low on cash, why don’t you download a free video maker? Despite it being free, it can be very effective and still look professional when it all comes together.
Green Screener
If you’re thinking about using a green screen in your next film project, it is important to make sure that it is lit properly. Often, people spend a lot of time filming in front of a green screen only to find out that they won’t be able to lay the background over it in editing. To help you with this, there are now apps available that tell you when your green screen is bright enough. This is a great time-saver, and they tend to be reasonably inexpensive to download.
Flash bag
Another great creative tool for aspiring filmmakers is a flash bag. These bags are great for when you don’t have a reflector with you. The inside of the bag acts as a replacement for this and is great when you need to take that spontaneous shot. You can also use the bag just to carry some of your camera equipment around, so it is multi-functional!
Smartphone stabiliser
Our final creative tool is for those aspiring filmmakers who don’t own a high-quality camera. The cameras on smartphones are getting increasingly better as the years go on, and more and more aspiring filmmakers are turning to their smartphones for footage. This is why smartphone stabilisers are great – they are handheld and will make sure that your smartphone footage does not look like something that a beginner would film. This is a great investment if you are just starting out.
