Jazz it up with Selaelo Selota at Ugu Arts Festival

Local artists will also have their chance to showcase their talent.

With many events taking place in June on the South Coast, be sure to add Ugu Jazz Arts Festival to your list of things to attend.

The festival will be taking place on Saturday, June 30 and will see some of the biggest names in jazz and afro-soul descend on Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre.

The concert, organised by Cyassound Holdings, will feature performances by the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi, Selaelo Selota, Zonke Dikana, Skye Wonda, Naledi Brown, Bheki Nqoko and Bongani Nkwanyana, to just to name a few.

In an effort to draw fans to the event, the artists have made live videos about what jazz lovers can expect on the day. The videos are shared on various media platforms including the official Jazz Festival Facebook Page.

South Coast’s very own Sisanda Nilson from Margate, who is now based abroad, will travel all the way from Canada for the festival, alongside Gcilima’s Mlindo the Vocalist who is currently SA’s new favourite artist. He will be entertaining with his song ‘Amablesser’ on the day.

Popular Maskandi giant act, Khuzani, will also be performing during the ‘Jazz meets Maskandi’ hour, emceed by Ukhozi FM’s Tshatha Ngobese.

Local artists will also have their chance to showcase their talent.

Anyone attending the concert is encouraged to take their camping chairs, umbrellas and cooler boxes. Guests are also welcome to ‘bring and braai’.

Hospitality marquees and food stalls from local businesses will also be available.

The festival will include a pre-pre party on June 29 at Senzi’s Lounge in Margate as well as a picnic on Sunday at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre.

Tickets are available at Computicket for R200 (early bird), R350 for the golden circle and R1 200 for VIP. Shuttle services from the TB Molefe stadium will be available once parking near the venue is full.
