Witnesses sought to 2015 Uvongo motorcycle accident

A father and his son were killed.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed an accident which occurred near the Uvongo Bird Park on Marine Drive on May 16, 2015, to contact them.

According to police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka, Margate police received a report of an accident at about 5.45am.

“Upon arrival the police found two people lying in the middle of the road, after their motorcycle and a motor vehicle collided, leaving Willem Grobler (48) and his son Nicolaas Grobler (26) from Garden Avenue, Uvongo dead. A case of culpable homicide was opened for investigation,” he said.

Later an 86-year-old man reported to police that he had been the driver of the vehicle which had collided with the motorbike.

Margate Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Andre Booysen at 039 3129805 or 074 4486872 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
