SADC countries hosted by Ugu South Coast Tourism

The tour welcomed travel agencies, media personnel and tour operators from other countries.

Ugu South Coast Tourism (Ugu SCT) recently hosted representatives from 14 tourism trade companies and the media to familiarise them with tourist destinations on the South Coast.

According to a statement from Ugu SCT,  tour operators, airlines from Namibia and Botswana, travel agencies and radio stations such as Radio Kosmos and SABC Radio News were part of the tour.

“Besides sampling various quality hospitality properties like San Lameer, Blue Marlin Hotel in Scottburgh the group also experienced eco activity outings to Lake Eland in the increasingly popular Oribi Gorge, a visit to the Red Desert at Port Edward and a sunset cruise along the Umtamvuna River,” read the statement.

There were also agri tours hosted by Beaver Creek Coffee Plantation and a banana farm tour offered by Outlook Trading Post in Southbroom.

Ugu SCT CEO, Justin Mackrory said this initiative was expected to generate good publicity and marketing for the South Coast Tourism industry.

“The principle is if somebody has first- hand experience of what our tourism assets are, they are more likely to recommend the destination and its products,” Mr Mackrory said.

According to Mr Mackrory, Ugu SCT has a number of such tours planned in the new financial year.
