South Coast motorcyclists support hospice through Ride for Remembrance

For many, this ride was an emotional and moving event.

South Coast Hospice’s Ride for Remembrance at St Mike’s beach car park last Sunday had an excellent turnout. A tea, coffee and muffin table was set in the car park. Bikers got to the beach early, where they registered for the ride and received their badge for their jackets.

This year’s event incorporated beautiful butterfly flags made by hospices throughout South Africa, for the encouragement of the 2018 Comrades Marathon runners.

At the beach, prior to the ride, South Coast Hospice CEO, Di van Dyk handed out 12 butterfly prayer flags as a symbol in memory of those bikers who had taken their last ride.

Then there was a moment of silence. For many, this ride was an emotional and moving event, as most had experienced so much loss in their lives.

The bikers ended the Ride for Remembrance at Douglas Mitchell Sports Bar where they enjoyed a hearty breakfast.
