Police killings have become a major concern to all Saps members in the country of late. It is believed that, this year alone, almost 30 policemen have been killed.
To raise awareness, Scottburgh Saps members, together with the Community Policing Forum, walked through Scott Street handing out pamphlets on the statistics and information on police killings.

The group was led by the Scottburgh Saps station commander, Colonel Ralph Ruiters. Many people had their attention drawn to the awareness campaign after police vehicles drove alongside the group with their blue lights and sirens on.

Meanwhile, the ‘bogus car guards’ who continue to be a nuisance in the area, disappeared from their posts within seconds of seeing Saps members walking the streets.
The awareness campaign was a success.
Many people accept pamphlets from the group; several business employees stepped out to see what was going on and expressed their feelings on the matter, with most stating that they were happy to see something was being done and that Saps had taken this initiative to shed light on a very important subject.
