Sheppie Snippets: Comedians set to entertain

A non-profit organisation based in Port Shepstone will bring the ever-popular cast of the Dingalings to town.

Hope on the Move is an NPO based in Port Shepstone that prides itself on providing assistance to organisations and individuals in need of help with the alleviation of poverty, illness and social injustices.

The organisation will present an exciting comedy performance by the ever-popular cast of the Dingalings.

Their latest show, entitled ‘Whipped’, is sure to have you in stitches and is not for the faint of heart. The show features the talents of Henry Ramkisson and Koobeshen Naidoo, who are known for their role in Imbewu and the movie Keeping Up With The Kandasamys.

The show will be staged at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Friday, November 2 at 8pm, and carries a PG16 age restriction.

Navaratri

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society will observe its second last day of Navaratri today (Wednesday). Tomorrow, (Thursday), October 18 the last day members of the temple will observe Sri Durga Naumi and Kanya Pooja from 6.30pm. On Friday (19th), Vijay Dashmi will be observed at midday. The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir will observe Navaratri today (Wednesday) concluding with Virsajan on Friday (19th). Recitals, discourses and bhajans will be held. Navaratri Committee

The Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee will be hosting Shastriji Ramshusheel Chaturvedi of Mumbai at the Port Shepstone Arya Samaj Hall until tomorrow, Thursday, October 18.

Recitations of the full 13 chapters of the Durga Saptashati together with the Maha Yajna commence at 6pm.

The committee will perform Kanya pooja today (Wednesday) and devotees are welcome to offer gifts. On Thursday the Sahastra Archana (offering of 108 roses to Mother Durga) will be performed, devotees will have an opportunity to offer a rose to Mata Di. On Friday, October 19 the committee invites all to bid farewell to Mata Di, between 10.30am to 11.30am at the Block, Port Shepstone. The procession to the Block will leave the Port Shepstone Arya Samaj Hall at 10am and Visarjan will take place with the assistance of a helicopter. Mata Di will be immersed into the depths of the ocean promptly at noon. The committee has 2019 religious calendars for sale which can be purchased from the committee members. Tamil Association

The Port Shepstone Tamil Association will observe its Navarathiree prayer today (Wednesday) and tomorrow. Prayer will be conducted at the temple at 6.30pm. All are invited. For further information contact Radha Moodley at 071 483 5568.

Stonecroft meets

The next Stonecroft Ministries’ meeting takes place at Mbango Valley this Friday, October 19 at 9am for 9.30am. Margaret Rex will be the main speaker and a Tokreen demonstration will be presented by Kotie Swart. Booking is essential. Phone Hermien at 082 8253001 or Betsie at 039 3171744.

Annual general meeting

Comedy show

The South African Hindu Sewa Samaj, a non-profit organisation is holding a fund-raiser comedy show ‘A Bash with Tash’ at Andhra Sabha Hall on November 18 at 2pm.

Tickets cost R100 per person and are available at Hair and Beauty on the Ridge and Sheppie Green Grocer in Marburg.

Diwali

Temple organisations are invited to submitted their Diwali or Deepavali messages by Monday, October 22 for a Diwali feature to be published in the South Coast Herald on November 2. Diwali will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 7. A Diwali show will be held at the Marburg Sports Complex on Saturday, November 3. A float procession will take place through the Port Shepstone CBD on Saturday, November 3 from 9am.
