New RTT members were recently announced to branch members at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre by the party’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC).
The RTT is an interim structure set up to oversee the party’s processes and day to day activities until a regional conference takes place and a new Regional Executive Committee is elected.
The new RTT will be headed by Phumlile Mthiyane as the convenor and Xolani Luthuli as the coordinator.
The decision to elect a new RTT came after then RTT convenor Mzwandile Mkhwanazi and coordinator Nontembeko Boyce were co-opted into the party’s PEC.

ANC provincial spokesman, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, confirmed the new changes and affirmed that the party’s goal is to work towards unity.
The new leadership will be in charge of campaigning for the party in the region for the upcoming 2019 national election.
“The new RTT will also be planning the region’s conference expected to take place after the elections.”
