Fidler in the Hood: Hand over your money – or else
The erstwhile blackmailer continued that the password must be changed and the ransom is to be paid in Bitcoins.
HI THERE! It’s a long, long time from May to December, but the days grow short when you reach November. Actually, that should read ‘September’, but what’s a couple of months between friends in the autumn of our years? What’s all this about, you may be asking?
Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?
It appears that many have had their laptop computers ‘hacked’ into over the past couple of weeks, with personal details and viewing habits uncovered. The other day half a dozen emails arrived from some wise guy, claiming the password had been hacked – ‘he knew what your scribe got up to and would spill the beans’. After studying the message – the poor English and terrible spelling. Our ‘friend’ added that unless US$846 ‘ransom money’ was coughed up, details would be ‘exposed to the world’. The erstwhile blackmailer continued that the password must be changed and the ransom is to be paid in Bitcoins. Tricky! Who knows where to start getting their hands on Bitcoins at short notice? Add to the fact that your scribe hasn’t two dimes to rub together these days, thanks to the Establishment that rules us (no names, no pack-drill), it would be like getting blood out of a stone, never mind Bitcoins.

What’s It All About, Ralphie?
Mentally kicking this blackmail threat into touch, so to speak. However, ‘One never knows, does one?’ as Fats Waller would say.Your scribe popped in at a computer shop. He was advised to ignore and delete the messages; and told that ‘dozens of old-timers’ had called by the shop – telling the same story and wearing a furrowed brow. Seems the self-proclaimed programmer and blackmailer has been hacking into the computers of many local persons of ‘a certain age’ who are not PC whiz kids. Trouble is you cannot retaliate and tell ‘Braveheart’ where to get off! So, relax, friends, no worries. Your innermost thoughts and secrets are safe and secure. However, if you really are ‘in the mood’ to browse the ’net, then do have a look at Fred and Ginger. Fred had it; Ginger had it. Nice work if you can get it and you can get it if you try!
See you, Rob.
