Tackling crime through sport at Izongolweni awareness day

The initiative aims to promote sports and related activities to prevent crime.

The Ezinqoleni Saps Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Youth Desk hosted a ‘sports against crime’ awareness day at Nolanga sports ground in KwaNyuswa, Izingolweni recently.

Ezinqoleni Saps Legends officially opened the event with a soccer match against KwaNyuswa Legends and won 4-0.

The department of correctional services, traditional leaders from KwaNyuswa and Sitolimpilo Rehabilitation Centre addressed various issues facing the local youth such as unemployment, petty theft, drugs and alcohol abuse and how sports and keeping fit could positively change their focus.

Games in other sporting codes were played and winning teams received prizes.
