Under the gavel in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court

The most common cases seem to have been those dealing in or found in the possession of heroin.

Recently in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court, the most common cases seem to have been those dealing in drugs – more specifically heroin. Some of the latest arrests for this drug are as follows:

• A woman in her early 20s was arrested in October after being found in the possession of one capsule of heroin in Scottburgh. She was granted Legal Aid and remains in police custody as she was unable to provide a home address.

• An elderly man was arrested on November 7 at the Scottburgh off-ramp after he had been found in the possession of 800 capsules of heroin. He is believed to have been dealing in this drug. He was granted Legal Aid, but said that, at a later stage, he might get a private attorney.

His case was postponed to November 16 for bail application.
