All systems go for seasonal plans
Departments made presentations on how they intended to ensure plans were executed well in time before and during the festive season.

Seasonal plans were presented before council at its last sitting for the year on Tuesday this week.
These plans outline key activities and areas which have been identified to be given special attention during the upcoming season.

Public safety, technical services, community services and planning services departments made presentations on how they intended to ensure plans were executed well in time before and during the festive season.
Although it was not smooth sailing for the heads of departments, as councillors posed questions regarding verge cutting, potholes, road markings and other matters, the HODs’ plans were endorsed.
DA Councillor Dave Watson said it was worrying that, while the festive season was fast approaching, verge cutting was not being done, making the South Coast look terrible.
“Such issues need urgent attention. We have to try and spruce up our areas to accommodate our holidaymakers as well as our communities,” he said.
The councillors also raised concerns about the sorry state of the verge on the R61 toll road and asked if there was a way community safety could liaise with the Department of Transport to have them cleared before the festive season.
The public safety plan was also discussed extensively. Officers will work overtime and reservists and seasonal reservists would also be employed to ensure there was a full force to keep the public safe.
