Sheppie Snippets: Join in the colourful Holi festival

Entertainment, coloured powder and supper will be provided.

Holi is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as ‘Holika’. There is a detailed description of the festival in early religious works such as Jaimini’s Purvamimamsa-Sutras and Kathaka-Grhya-Sutras. Historians also believe that Holi was celebrated by all Aryans but more so in the Eastern part of India.

This colourful festival bridges the social gap and renews sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’.

Holi will officially be observed next Wednesday, March 20. The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Sabha Mandir will host a colourful Holi celebration at the temple from 5.30pm. Entry is free and all are welcome. Entertainment, coloured powder and supper will be provided. For further information contact Veena Lakhan at 067 068 8282.
