St Faith’s rapist jailed for life

He also assaulted the woman after breaking into her house.

Thabane Luthuli (35) of Phepheni area in St Faith’s has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ixopo Magistrate’s Court for the rape of a 59-year-old woman.

He received an additional three-year sentence for house breaking.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Cibo Ncane said the rape occurred in September 2015, when Luthuli broke into the woman’s house.

“He assaulted her severely before raping her. Neighbours found her the following morning and alerted police.

Sergeant Sifiso Gigaba of FCS Port Shepstone was the investigating officer.

“Luthuli fled the area but was arrested in February 2017,” said Sgt Ncane.
