Merlewood’s Ashton flies to Egypt

He spent six days in Cairo with his uncle and they stayed at the Cairo Hilton.

Gr 2 pupil Ashton Chappen (7) from Merlewood Primary became the envy of his classmates when he flew to Egypt for the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ashton’s uncle Vitalis Onwuka just happened to swipe his FNB visa card at Shoprite in Port Shepstone and was pleasantly surprised to win an all-expenses paid trip to Egypt.

He had to nominate a ‘player escort’ for the Senegal team, who played against Tunisia.

Ashton was most excited to talk about his trip when he returned.

He spent six days in Cairo with his uncle and they stayed at the Cairo Hilton.

During their stay they were taken on tours around Cairo, which was a first-hand learning experience for Ashton.
