Tweni Talk: Road repairs commence in Tweni

Neither of the roads has danger tape or warning signs advising motorists to be careful.

WELL DONE to Ray Nkonyeni Municipality for finally filling and patching sinkholes in Mgazi and Ibis Roads. Now the challenges remain for the Sylvan Avenue and Old St Faith’s Road damages.

Neither of the roads has danger tape or warning signs advising motorists to be careful. Please folks, the danger is real. Much of the soil under the road washed away and the tar is on the brink of collapsing.

Crime reared its ugly head again with a house break-in. Burglar guards were removed and the bedroom window was forced open. The SAPS and Sarel Mathee of Lazer 911 attended.

Condolences to Marge, family and friends of Doug Boy of Bamber Crest. Sadly Doug died in the early hours of last Friday morning after a long illness.

On the go

It was a very busy social calendar on the coast last weekend. Welcome back to Doug Maritz, who has been visiting friends in freezing Gauteng and is pleased to be back.

He is looking well rested and it’s wonderful to have him back in the community.

The comedienne was the excellent Mary Steward, who had everyone laughing until they cried. Well done to all.

Melissa Deane’s family and friends gathered for her kitchen tea themed ‘The 50s: aprons and pearls’ last Saturday. Her sister, Luci Keit, organised the party and mom Cynthia was a gracious hostess. It was a lovely event with lots of fun and laughter.

Preston Nichols (12) of Southport made his parents Schalk and Nadine exceptionally proud when he recently received a bronze medal for kumite and KZN colours for karate. Congratulations Preston.

Famers’ festival

The Paddock Farmers’ 2019 Wildsfees held last Saturday was exceptional, as always.

Marcel and Glenda Schutgens are over the moon to have their son Emile visiting from Holland. The family made their way up to the wildsfees and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful experience.

Enormous bonfires kept the cold at bay and the variety of meat dishes made sure no one went away hungry. Even crocodile featured on the menu.

Birthday celebrations

Many happy returns to Gordon Dickson (7th), Maria Nel (10th), Robert Harley (11th), Di Prepok and Marlene Bergsma (12th) and Sharlene Vahey and Jannette Grobler on the 13th.

All those who have been hit by the very bad strain of flu are wished a speedy recovery.
