Umzinto drug dealers arrested

Drugs seized during the raid included Mandrax, heroin and rock cocaine, according to police.

TWO suspects were on Tuesday last week arrested for dealing in drugs.

The men, aged 30 and 31 years respectively, were arrested in Riverside Park, Umzinto by members of the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit during an intelligence driven operation.

Drugs seized during the raid included Mandrax, heroin and rock cocaine, according to police.

“The estimated street value of the drugs seized is around R18 000,” said Brigadier Jay Naicker.

The provincial commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula has commended the officers for the bust.

“Over the past week I have noted with pleasure that dedicated police teams at various clusters in the province have been performing sterling work by responding to the calls by communities to close down drug dens and rid communities of substance abuse which contributes to many serious and violent crimes.

“We will continue to intensify our efforts in eradicating the scourge of drug abuse in the province,” he said.
