Umgai rapist sentenced

He lured a girl into the change rooms at the local sports ground and raped her.

CONVICTED rapist Khalesakhe Morris Ngcobo (45) has been sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment by the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.

Ngcobo raped a child in Umgai in April last year.

The girl and her brother were on their home from a shop when Ngcobo, who the children referred to as “uncle” called them.

“He asked the girl to stay with him and sent her brother to the shop to buy chips,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

“Ngcobo then lured the girl into the change rooms at the local sports ground and raped her.”

The girl told her family about her ordeal after suffering physical effects from the trauma, and Ngcobo was arrested.

Ugu Cluster Commander, Major General Sethenya Agnes Nxamagele praised the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Nonkululeko Sibusisiwe Mgqibisa for ensuring that Ngcobo was brought to book and put behind bars.
