Operation yields good results

Some 250 cartons of cigarettes to the value of R40 000 were confiscated.

OPERATION Fiela, a collaboration between Scottburgh Saps, the Ugu Cluster Operational Command Centre and the Scottburgh Visible Policing Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Linda Chiliza, resulted in four arrests.

Charges included selling counterfeit cigarettes.

Some 250 cartons of cigarettes to the value of R40 000 were confiscated. One suspect was found in possession of 252 parcels of dagga, and another was allegedly dealing in alcohol without a licence.

“These operations are ongoing and members of the public are also encouraged to report criminal activities to the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 086-0010111,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
