Margate Moves: Louis loses his brave battle
Two years ago municipal manager Max Mbili, hosted a `thank you gala dinner' for Louis and his family to honour them for giving him the opportunity to study further.
MARGATE attorney Louis Hansmeyer (65) died last Thursday after a brave battle against cancer.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Francis, his children, grandchildren, family, friends and the local legal fraternity.

He was a supporter of community events and in his younger days a seriously good tennis player.

Louis’s funeral service takes place at the Margate NG Church this Friday (4th) at 11am.
Rally around this Sunday
October is going to be another busy month for the Ramsgate Lions Club. The pride may be small, but its members keep the community active on the social scene.
Their next `big’ event is the annual `Car Rally’ which takes place at the Community Centre on Glenmarkie Road this Sunday, October 5 from 12pm.
Entry is R200 per vehicle – a maximum of four people per car. Entrants will receive tea/coffee on arrival, and lunch vouchers and soft drinks will be on sale.
Drivers will be given clues and put through their paces in a rally aimed at having fun.

Free tests
The Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast will once again join forces with the Department of Health and hold Family Health Days at the Margate Clinic on Erasmus Road.
The annual campaign, aimed at encouraging families to manage their health, runs from October 2 to 4 from 8am to 4pm.
Free testing for HIV, TB, STIs, diabetes and hypertension, will be offered as well as educational information about immunisation and family planning.

Clean up
Ramsgate’s Community Policing Forum, Conservancy and Tourism Association will hold another beach and ramble clean-up. The community is urged to join these organisations in getting the area spruced up.
Save the date, Saturday, October 12. Litter busters are asked to meet at the Ramsgate tidal pool’s car park at 8am.
Do support this community initiative which will greatly benefit the area.
More music
Ramsgate’s iconic home of music, Rocky Ridge, will host Gunshot Blue this Saturday (5th). The venue will be open from 6pm and the band is on stage from 8pm.
Entry is R50 per person.
Popular country and western singer Clive Bruce will be at Pistol’s Saloon in Southbroom on October 26.
Cowboy capers
The next classic DVD movie to be screened at Margate Retirement Village is `High Noon’ starring Gary Cooper. The date to diarise is Sunday, October 20, and the venue is the Ronnie Baker Hall from 2.30pm.
Entrance is R5 and includes tea/coffee and biscuits which are served during the intermission.

This month’s supper theatre offering is an evening with the talented singer Jonothan Didlick. He will perform at the Azalea Hall on Saturday, October 26. Tickets at R80 per person will be on sale from the RAC or admin offices at the village from October 7. Doors open at 6pm and it is showtime from 7pm.
Fun day
Fancy a game of jukskei? Then get to Margate Retirement Village on Thursday (17th) from 10am.
The Shelly Beach Shafts (Self Help Association for Seniors) will be having their next outing there. It is loads of fun and you get to meet a great bunch of people.

Margate Baptist Church will hold a women’s seminar on October 26. Jaci Mun-Gavin is the guest speaker, and the seminar is from 9am to midday.
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s mayor Cynthia Mqweba will host a gala fund-raising dinner for the Nomusa CP Mqwebu Education Development Trust.
