According to Ugu spokesman France Zama, the planning office in any municipality is the driving force behind service delivery.
Meet Ugu District Municipality’s new development planning manager, Zekhethelo Mshengu.
Having worked for Ethekwini Metro and Umzumbe municipalities, Ms Mshengu is bringing a wealth of expertise to the position which deals mostly with the municipality’s corporate strategy and integrated development plans.

She took up office on Monday, September 23 and says she is ready to play her part in solving some of Ugu’s financial and administrative challenges that tie back to proper reporting and monitoring.
According to Ugu spokesman France Zama, the planning office in any municipality is the driving force behind service delivery.
“Without proper planning, organisations are unable to operate towards their core mandate. It is only by the compilation of a credible IDP that a municipality can prioritise projects and formulate a long-term vision that will guide budgeting, thereby fulfilling the municipality’s core mandate as per the constitution of service delivery.”
Ms Mshengu says she is confident that her appointment will be an asset to Ugu Municipality, and hopefully, in the next financial year, Ugu might bag a clean audit outcome and be placed tops in terms of planning.
