Hundreds of matric pupils from 21 different high schools within the Umdoni municipal area attended the gathering.
“It was imperative to remind pupils that their parents’ accomplishments are not their own, knowledge is not innate and the onus is on them to map their own futures by working extra hard in these examinations,” said Umdoni Municipality communications manager, Sphelele Cele.
“These are our future leaders, so discipline is therefore of vital importance and works hand in hand with focus.”
Umdoni’s 2018 top achiever, Siyabonga Hadebe, attended the prayer day to help motivate the matrics and shared some words of wisdom and study tips.
Pastor Sithembiso Zondo gave a talk, encouraging the pupils to do their best to prepare for the upcoming exams.
