Hibberdene Happenings: Load-shedding impacts on clinic bookings
No further bookings will be taken for the year as all existing bookings need to be accommodated.
Load-shedding reared its ugly head once again last week. Wednesday’s outage saw the cancellation of the penultimate eye clinic of the year, leaving only the clinic scheduled for November 20 to accommodate waiting patients.
For this reason, no further bookings will be taken for the year as all October bookings, as well as those who had already booked for November, need to be accommodated.

Your scribe apologises for any inconvenience caused. After festive season break, the clinic will reconvene towards the middle of February.
Go Bokke!
Local watering holes were packed to capacity for the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals last Saturday. A carnival atmosphere prevailed once the final whistle had blown and the Springboks were pronounced winners.
Due to the Rugby World Cup final being held on November 2, the Mtwalume flea and craft market has been postponed for a week and will now take place on November 9. The format and venue remains the same – at Koelwaters Resort from 9am, so please make every effort to attend.
Church happenings
Mizpah Church’s men’s breakfast last Saturday went off very well with Rory Whitaker, an Anglican visitor from Port Shepstone, as guest speaker. Rory gave and interesting, inspirational talk on his life’s path.

The Methodist Church will hold a welcoming service, followed by a grand tea, for Reverend Annelie Kotze on Sunday, November 3, at 8.30am. All congregants are invited to share the monthly communion service with the new minister and get to know her over tea afterwards.
A delightful presentation took place on Sunday with the Youth Service. Coordinated by Ken Walker, who did an excellent job, proceedings commenced with the Sunday school class of Jill Bylett and Colleen Gillham, who delighted everyone with their zest and spontaneity.
Next up was the Youth Group of Evans Linda, whose presentation was equally impressive. As is customary, every year matriculants due to write their final exams, are presented with a beautiful hand-made blanket created by the church’s ‘Knits and Natters’ group, and this year an ecstatic Aphiwe Zama was the lucky recipient.

Aphiwe plans to attend university next year to study film technology and is wished everything of the best.
Remember the church’s giant jumble sale to be held on Saturday, November 30, from 8.30am to 12pm. Clean out your cupboards and donate unwanted clothes, kitchenware, linen, books and any odds and ends towards this worthy cause.
Best wishes
Barbara Sates has been admitted to Umhlanga Hospital and is wished a speedy recovery, as are Barnie Viviers, who is not at all well, and Cecil McDonald. Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers. Deepest sympathy is extended to Christine and Theuns Snyman on the recent death of Christine’s mom Charlotte Faure.
Birthday wishes go to Linda Porteous and Dave Barry (24th), Luke McLelland, who turns 30 on October 25, Christelle Lategan (27th), Ann Renfrew (28th), and Anna Compion (28th), while Shenda and Ivor Krisch celebrate their anniversary this Friday (25th).
Don’t forget to keep Lizzie busy with news and snippets.
