Tweni Talk: Broken glass is finally cleaned up
They worked tirelessly in the hot sun both Saturday and Sunday and locals donated money, food and water.
After all the hard work put into cleaning up Commercial Road by the local community, bottles and broken glass has still not been removed by RNM cleansing department. Ryan Ringo asked two homeless guys to help clean up and box all the bottles last Saturday.

Busy weekend
Intrepid Moira King took part in the Child Welfare Charity 8km fun run/walk last Sunday, starting at the gym in Commercial Road, Umtentweni, in very hot conditions. She said it was a lot of fun.

At the beginning of the year Kim Jones was told by her doctor to give up running, so reluctantly she took up cycling. This formidable young woman went on to compete in and complete the Amashova 35km fun ride last Sunday. Kim says “Thank you to my biggest fan, Mark Jones, for all the encouragement and support.”
Rod Hackland and Davina Campbell have been colleagues and friends for over 40 years, first serving the Umzumbe Farming Community and now the security forum. It’s all about team work.
Power problem
A blown Eskom cable in Ambleside Road had the airwaves buzzing with social media messages coming in thick and fast at 2am last weekend. Most people thought that it was an unofficial load-shedding, so between the salt water issues and Eskom, last weekend was rather difficult for some.
Ring the date
Thembiso Dhlamini, a horticulturist in the Ray Nkonyeni Horticultural Department, will address the Friends of Southport Library at their next monthly meeting in the Southport library hall this Friday, October 25, at 10 for 10.30am.
Mr Dhlamini will give a brief account of the aims and objectives of the department, as well as advice on which plants should be planted in local gardens. Tea and eats will be available afterwards and all are welcome.
