Shonkweni Primary learns to be fit and healthy

The theme was "Make eating whole foods a way of life".

THE Department of Basic Education paid Shonkweni Primary in KwaCele a visit during National Obesity Week.

The programme started with a fun walk around the village by pupils, staff and department officials.

Pupils were also exposed to various physical activities including, hula hooping, skipping, netball, and soccer.

Nutrition education was also part of the programme, the theme of which was “Make eating whole foods a way of life”.

Shonkweni Primary pupils learn more about being healthy during the National Obesity Week programme.

Pupils got an opportunity to create their own delicious and nutritious snacks and a chance to do a practical demonstration on how to ensure that the various food groups are included in their meals.

They also received T-shirts and caps, provided by Nestle.
