Talented musician makes a come back
Indira is looking forward to releasing her own compositions sung by her.
Writing songs in Hindi takes understanding and mature thinking. An inspiring and talented musician, mother and teacher, Indira Ramadeen has been writing Hindi music since she was 18-years old.
She has been gifted unlike most others and studied the ancient Sanskrit language of India, which helped in improving her songwriting skills. Indira is also a qualified fashion designer, specialising in clothing for women, and if that’s not enough, she loves to write poetry and spend time with her family.

This talented women started at a young age by singing along to music on the radio and progressed to singing Hindi songs for religious groups here on the South Coast. From there she blossomed into a songwriter and soon was singing her own compositions.
For the Ramadeen family of Albersville, the love of music has always been in the family. Indira says she inherited a love of singing from her mother, while her father was a talented harmonium player.
Indira’s latest song lyrics ‘Kambaqth Ishq’ sung by Priya Singh, a household name in the South African music industry, was recorded extensively for radio and television.
The song title means ‘This Wretched Love’ was aired with a digital launch held at Carnival City during a Lotus FM show recently presented by Zakiya Ahmmed.
“Yes I was there during the launch and what a feeling it was, listening to my composition being sung by Priya Singh, live in front of thousands of people. I received lots of compliments, many of them saying they love the latest song. Priya has sung four of my compositions, and she has done extremely well in singing them,” said Indira.
In 1998, Indira penned the song ‘Shaayad’ also sung by Priya, which won first prize in the Hindi category of the Lotus FM song competition. In 2007, her lyrics to the song ‘Haar Gayi’ helped Priya secure second position on the Lotus FM local charts.
In 2010 Indira also featured in the limited edition 1860 Indentured Indians magazine as the face of the future paving the way for the next generation.
As to the future? Indira is looking forward to releasing her own compositions sung by her, which South Coasters can look forward to soon. She gratefully acknowledges her family for playing such a huge role in supporting and encouraging her over the years.
