A different ‘beat’ for policeman Dilan
His first single from his first studio album called 'Walking On Water' is set to be released next year.
For Dilan Jama of Marburg, a musician/artist/songwriter/performer and a humble young man, changing the world through the love of God and music is a serious business.
This talented 21 year old started by entertaining family and friends at a young age. After a journey of performing secular music (worldly music), he had an encounter with Jesus Christ which led him to build a stronger relationship with God, which turned his life around.
Dilan believes that people can only change the world if they change themselves first.
After matriculating from Marburg Secondary in 2016 he chose to use his talent to make a difference in his community and the country.
His first project titled ‘Push’ (Praying Until Something Happens) consisted of five songs. He sold hardcopy CDs of the project and went on to host two concerts featuring local artists and musicians from South Coast and Durban in 2017.
In 2018 he went on to complete his training at Tswane Saps Academy and qualified as a police constable.
Back in his home town of Marburg, Dilan continued with his music career. On his return, he teamed up with a band called the Shifft and hosted an event called ‘The Youth Turn Up’ which targeted the youth of the community to encourage them back to God.
His first single from his first studio album called ‘Walking On Water’ is set to be released next year.
“This song has created a buzz and the response has been great. The song is titled ‘Alright’ which features Ricardo Moonsamy and is produced by the ‘King of the West’, known as Ghraphytie to most locals,” said Dilan.
He has also re-launched his clothing line Messiahs Misfiits 4:10.
Dilan who is signed to Rock Will Entertainment has also released another single from his album called ‘Pain’ featuring Lucky KiKi and managed to score himself an international feature with Ghraphytie.
“This song speaks about finding purpose in pain, and that going through pain and hardships in life is inevitable. We as human beings have to go through this journey to come out stronger. The focus should not be the pain itself but the lesson learnt in the process. Always keep your head up, loving everybody around you, lifting the next person up and pressing forward no matter what and always trusting in God,” said Dilan
The song ‘Pain’ was released last Saturday and is available in all major digital stores.
