South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its last business breakfast for 2019 at Kapenta Bay Resort and Conference Hotel recently.

Two top Durban speakers, Tshegang Chipeya and Farai Moyo, presented the latest thinking and plans from the Economic Development Department (EDTEA) and Durban Metro to develop and stimulate the key economic sectors in the province, and the greater Durban area.

Getting down to the nitty gritty at the business breakfast are (from left) Nozibusiso Mbili, Asanda Malanda and Gabriella Khawula.

Ms Chipeya gave an in-depth talk on the development of Durban into a world-class smart city, highlighting the latest thinking and plans on the smart city concept, and how the South Coast can benefit from it.

“The goal is to make Durban the most caring and livable city by 2030,” she said.

The second speaker, Mr Moyo, enlightened guests on the most recent data of the provincial economy, and the sectors targeted for investment in each district.

Guests agreed that the topics were thought-provoking and informative, and they look forward to the chamber business breakfast next year.
