Wife arrested for policeman’s murder

Police confirmed that more arrests were possible.

There has been a twist in the investigation into the murder of Warrant Officer Thulani Derrick Ngwabe (51).

Police have revealed that his wife, Nonkululeko (44) had been arrested in connection with the killing.

Officer Ngwabe’s body was discovered near the Port Shepstone beachfront on November 3 at about 11.40pm.

He had multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Police spokesman, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said Mrs Ngwabe was arrested by  Hawks officers from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Unit on December 10.

“She appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday this week and the case was postponed,” he said.

Warrant Officer Ngwabe was stationed at the Margate Saps Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) and had a 25-year service record in the police.

He was was off-duty at the time of his death.

Police confirmed that more arrests were possible.
