Decomposed body found in Merlewood
A post-mortem examination was conducted but the cause of death could not be established due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
An odour reported by the community led Port Shepstone SAPS to human remains in Cypress Lane, Merlewood on Monday this week.
“Members of the community investigated after a disturbing odour emanated from an area near a stream,” said police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge.
The body was that of a man, dressed in a black hooded top, black jeans and a black studded belt.
A post-mortem examination was conducted but the cause of death could not be established due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
