Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Joey, his family members and friends.

Diary items

Depending on available space, you may still be able to reserve a place at the Methodist men’s breakfast this coming Saturday morning (February 1) at 7am, at a cost of R30 per person. Contact Debbie at the church office at 039 6992948 as soon as possible.

The church is planning another of its bumper jumble sales on Saturday, March 28, so start sorting out second-hand clothes now and don’t leave it till the last minute. Diarise the jumble sale now, as these sales are always well supported and you don’t want to miss out.

With Easter just a couple of weeks after the sale, who knows what bargains you may pick up.

Good wishes

Your scribe received a call from Phyllis Michaelis recently. Although she has had a spell in hospital in Gauteng and has been put onto new medication, she is feeling a lot better and sends greetings to her many friends. Phyllis is wished well.

Two belated birthdays were celebrated during the week and your scribe apologises for her tardiness – Margaret Douglass turned 83 on January 21, while Maureen Head celebrated her 70th on Monday, 27th. Happy birthday wishes this week goe to former resident Norma Boardman and Reshma Pillay (29th), Shelagh Schwegman and Susan Smuts-Steyn (30th), Ben van der Merwe (31st), Callie Quin (February 3) and Clive Knights (February 4). Happy anniversary to Veronica and Ian Davids for January 29.

Remember to keep Lizzie busy with all things Hibberdene.
